Our dear Hamham died sometime this morning, seemingly in his sleep in the bottom of his big plastic wheel. He was only 19 months old. I’m extremely hurt and rather surprised, because as far as I know Syrian (teddy bear) hamsters are supposed to live up to three years. He was sleeping a bit more than usual and not grooming not as much, but the last few days he’s been fluffy and chatty again so we figured he was just coming out of a more sedate “winter” phase.

I’m really really really going to miss him. :’(
