Totally Geeked out

I’m so happy with the way that flickr plugin has worked out, I’m going to go through my backups and see if I can find all my nice Burnaby pictures and upload them. I don’t know why but it’s taken up till now to really start getting into flickr. I’ve always loved the way the site was designed, the tagging, the social features. It all looked pretty cool from the get go. I think the only reason I never got into it was because I thought the free accounts were much more limited than they actually are.

For instance, I uploaded everything that’s in my zenphoto gallery last night. That only used up 2% of my allowed bandwidth for the month. *shocked gasp!* Granted, a lot of the pictures were nice and small, having already been sized for one of my earlier gallery setups, but I was still pretty impressed. Of course, I’m also using the lovely flickr uploader for mac, which allows you to resize pictures before uploading so even the big ones didn’t make much of a dent in my monthly limit.

I may even go for a paid account, which is something I’ve never considered before. I have such a strong tendency to tinker with my own site that it may be wise to host the hard to re-upload things (like all my dozens of images) separate from my Wordpress install. It might even be worth $25 a year. :)
