Shameless Plugging-Turquoise Cabochon in Copper

I haven’t been plugging my Etsy items very much so I thought I’d feature something once in a while. This piece was kinda experimental. I have a terrific book on wirewrapping that I haven’t worked through very much yet and I wanted to try one of the more complicated ‘more than three strand’ wraps described in it. This didn’t turn out looking anything like what it was supposed to, yet I still think it’s one of my best.
It’s wonderfully heavy and solid, using six 18″ strands of 20 gauge copper wire. I don’t even have a chain sturdy enough to string it on, though I imagine it would look pretty sweet on some dark coloured braided leather or something. The next time I do it’ll be part of a larger piece with a collar so I probably won’t be able to sell another one this cheap for a little while.
The stone is a surprisingly nice Turquoise cab that I found in a wholesale assortment. Most of the other Turquoise in the mix were colour enhanced but this one definitely wasn’t. My only regret is that the wrap covers so much of the stone, but you can still see some of the lovely translucent veining in it, and it contrasts beautifully with the copper.
Hope everybody had a fantastic weekend, Cheers! ^_^
