Glass Heart in Alpacca

Hearts are a little tougher to wirewrap than some other shapes, especially when they’re as thick as this. I’ve only done two so far (the other one sold on eBay a while back) but I think I like the way this one came out best. The circles make me think of ancient astronomy charts somehow. The other was a bit of a different take on a traditional wrap, both were done in gold-coloured Alpacca wire. I really love that stuff because the gold stays put and deepens every so slightly over time rather than tarnishing. I have a tiger’s eye I wrapped in it almost two years ago that has a very nice sort of antique gold look to it now.

I’ve got a fair number of these red hearts, they’re the decorative glass cabochon-ish baubles that are sold in various places, the idea being that you fill up a pretty glass dish or jar with them and set them someplace where they’ll catch the light. I think they make excellent jewellery. :) I’m planning on using them for the upcoming “build your own pendant” feature that I plan to add, just as soon as I figure out how best to do it. It’s a bit of an organizational challenge, but I’ll work it out soon.
