2 New Pendants

I’m doing pieces for 2, count ‘em 2 weddings right now, for two very nice gals. What’s great is one of them is somebody who found me through eBay, so all the time I spent paying too many fees wasn’t a complete wash. ^_^

This one is fun because I get to use a lot of colour. The bouquets are full of bright flowers in a sort of rainbow selection of hues so she wanted each bridesmaid to have a different colour in her necklace.

I have all the stones picked out, but I’m going to save the purple for last so I can see if there’s a better choice in the package of assorted stones I just ordered from my supplier. (I looove firemountaingems.com, even when they take all my money.) There’s going to be five in all. I’m trying to think of an interesting way to photograph them all together.

I’m also using this as a chance to test some different photography techniques that I haven’t tried before. I find that if I can
pick just the right time of day the natural light bouncing off the half-wall directly in front of our livingroom window can provide for a nice even cast, (you can tell by the shadows on these that this wasn’t exactly the right time of day, but they’re okay I guess). I fabricated a little hook out of copper for hanging the pendants then dangled them on a large crystal wineglass. I’ve seen others do this and I’ve aways really liked the way it looked. It’s better if there’s some nice greenery behind them but whenever I point my camera towards the lawn I get nervous looks from folks coming into the building. :P
