A sneak preview of TheWeeJenny.net 2.0
I’ve been intending to re-work the site for some time, but I didn’t get a chance to start the actual work on it until yesterday. It’s going to be a bit of a multi-phase process, since some of it can’t be done until version 2.3 of WordPress is released, and until I work out the logistics of a few things. The design and some of the reorganization however, can be done first, so that’s what I’ve started with.
I’m developing it on a test install of WordPress 2.3 Alpha, so that I can be fairly sure of compatibility when it’s done (and so I can play with the new tagging feature and figure out my tags/categories infrastructure ahead of time). I don’t want to show more than this tiny thumbnail yet, because I’m not 100% sure where I’m going with the overall theme so there’s a good chance it won’t even resemble any full screens I could put up now. I can show you the theme I’m using as a base however, the very elegant Tapestry theme by Brian Gardner. I chose this one because I love Brian’s code, and this particular theme incorporates a large centered background image, making it possible for me to do some original illustration and completely customize it’s look.
I do still plan to write something from scratch, but I’ve decided that I’m still not quite knowledgeable enough to do it properly. I am however getting some ideas on the kinds of things I’d like to make when I do start doing them from scratch, so that’s a big improvement.
I must say I’m pretty excited about all this. Even though it’s not finished I already like the new theme better than the current one. It’s finally going to have a design that nobody else has. ^_^
P.S. I’ve added a customer support section to the forum, so if you’ve hired me for something before and would like to leave some publicly viewable feedback, or if you’d like to discuss a project that you might like to work with me on, there’s a new convenient place to do it.
