Heart the landlady
Now there’s a sentence you never hear very often eh? I seriously do though, because this afternoon she came over to install blinds, which we weren’t keen on since we love our curtains and need them to keep the bedroom dark on days where we’ve worked nights and need to sleep out of the sun’s sleep-disrupting rays, but it turned out to be a very good thing.
We haven’t been able to have our windows open since the kitty came to live with us, because the one time we did he went straight for it and nearly jumped out, which is scary when you’re on the second floor. He’d probably be fine but who knows where he’d go since he’s only lived here a couple of weeks.
Anyhoo, she comented on how warm and almost steamy the apartment was, and we mentioned that we couldn’t open the windows for fear of kitty jumping out, and I said “if only we had something that would hold it open just a crack” and she was all “oh, you mean like this?” and proceeded to show us that one could indeed, open the window just a crack. There’s a little grip on the latch that does just that that niether of us had noticed. *doh!*
So now we’ve got our windows cracked, and a borrowed air conditioner pumping the warm damp air outside, leaving us the most comfortable we’ve been in a couple weeks.
Thanks Christina. ^_^
