This is rather interesting

I switched my 301 redirect to make the url default to theweejenny.net rather than www.theweejenny.net (I know there was a reason I chose www once upon a time but I can’t remember what it is anymore) and the constant trickle of spam trackbacks and comments stopped.

Now I’ll have to find something to do to look busy besides deleting spam and optimizing the database. :p

  1. Do you have Akismet set up? That has helped me a lot.

  2. Yup. It’s just that I was getting something like 50 - 100 a day in the “waiting to be deleted” pile, and now it seems that I’m either getting none or Akismet is now deleting them all automatically.

I almost wrote a post when my akismet count was “OVER NINE THOOOOOOOOOUSAND!” but I thought that might be cheezy. :p

  3. I guess it’s good that at least it was being caught and not posted lol.

  4. Ooooh yeah, that would’ve been bad. *lol* I find the simplest thing to do is set it so that no comments are posted unless the author has had one comment approved before. Saves a lot of headaches. ^_^
