About Me

foto_02My name is Jenny, and I’m an artist living in New Westminster British Columbia with a sexy male nurse (or “Murse” as some say) called Jamie, and our precocious Bengal kitty Nibblr (yes, that’s how we spell it, we’re nerdy and silly). I started this site with the original intention of just selling my handmade jewellery, but over time it’s been evolving into something a bit more complicated. I suffer from a severe case of “I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up”, so I dabble in a lot of different creative fields and hobbies.

I’m also an avid gamer and fan of several MMO’s. One of these days I may add a “gamer resume” with a constantly updated list of what I’m playing at the moment, just in case anybody wants to hang. I’m much more socially active online than off, especially since I can do it in my pajamas if I want to. ;)

The Site: This site is my home base/portfolio. Here you can find links to and updates on where I’m selling my work, what I’m working on, and eventually tutorials and other activities depending on what there seems to be interest for. There’s also a forum where I hope to cultivate a community where art and tech inclined individuals can share their interests and expertise with one another, or just hang out and chat.

Education: I went to University for one year, but didn’t study anything related to what I do now. Isn’t that always the way? As for the art stuff, I learned everything I know from books, the internet, and other people. I haven’t had any formal art training since my High School art classes, where I learned quite a lot that I still use now really. Basically, I do it because I like to do it. I’d love to take some design and perhaps web design classes some time in the future to add to my skill set one day, in the meantime I continue to learn through online tutorials and reverse-engineering, which isn’t so bad.

What I do

Turquoise Cabochon in Copper Wire “Hope is the pillar that holds up the world” (Red Heart in Gold Alpacca) BE revision 1 Frodo Coloured Winged Tim

I’ve been making Wirewrapped Jewellery seriously since 2005, before that I mostly concentrated on drawing and other sorts of visual art. I came to wire jewellery making after a brief stint as a Lapidary, where I learned a lot about gems minerals and jewellery in general. I’m very strongly influence by Art Nouveau Celtic knot sorts of shapes in my jewellery, and in my drawings as well when I can manage it. My work has occasionally been described by customers and others as looking “Elvish”, which for a nerd like me is an extremely high compliment. :)

I’m concentrating on the wire jewellery at the moment because for some reason I find it easier to do than some of the drawings and such. It’s rather free-form and the only rule I follow when creating a piece is that the stone (if there is one) must be as well secured as possible, other than that the sky’s the limit as far as design is concerned.

Over time I’ll be adding art prints and maybe design services of some sort, depending on my work load and other factors.

Commissions

Amethyst in gold Alpacca I’m available for Custom Jewellery commissions, and can be contacted by email through the Contact page or through posting in the bb (registration is required but painless, and I will never spam you), where you can either post in the customer support section or send me a private PM. If you like the convenience of chatting in a standard message board thread but don’t want the world to see the conversation (like when commissioning something as a surprise gift for example) I can set up a private password protected thread especially for you. I’m pretty flexible. Cheers!
